Rockford Police:
Our Vigilant Protectors
The Rockford Police Department is committed to a strong working relationship with the community. Our "Community Policing" philosophy builds partnerships between community groups, organizations, businesses, and Rockford residents.

24-Hour Police Protection: Quality Service.
Rockford's own police officers are always available to quickly respond to emergency and non-emergency calls within the City. (Meanwhile, area townships must share County police protection.) Rockford Police are also trained to respond to medical calls with the Rockford Fire Department.

Neighborhood Watch Groups, and RANA
Seven Rockford neighborhoods are presently designated as Neighborhood Watch Zones. Scheduled meetings help neighbors to know each other better, and calling trees provide important information from police to Watch members. The neighborhoods benefit from better communication between police and residents.

In additon, RANA (Rockford Area Neighborhood Association) is a new city-wide association comprised of the neighborhood watch groups, members of the Police Department, City of Rockford personnel, local business owners, and other Rockford area organizations. RANA holds free meetings and events to educate residents on crime prevention and safe living, to unify neighborhoods, and to promote the Rockford community. For a schedule of this year’s events, meetings and locations, or to learn more about RANA, contact Kammie Hortig at 616-406-7842 or email rana49341@yahoo.com.

Is your neighborhood interested in organizing a Neighborhood Watch? Contact Community Policing Officer Dave Robinson at the Police Department, or you may email Officer Robinson at grobinson@rockford.mi.us.
